The Meghalaya State Pollution Control Board (MSPCB), on March, 2026, issued a public notice inviting proposals for setting up Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) in line with the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016 notified by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.
The notice highlights the responsibility of local authorities to establish facilities for segregation and management of recyclable waste such as paper, plastic, metal, glass, and textiles. In this regard, proposals are invited from individuals, community groups, NGOs, and other stakeholders for collection, sorting, and processing of dry waste generated from residential, commercial, and institutional sources.
Interested applicants are required to submit detailed project reports (DPRs) in hard copy to the Board on or before April 13, 2026, for consideration of financial assistance. This initiative aims to strengthen waste management infrastructure and promote recycling through organized systems.
